Fat pads on the thighs and hips, the so-called "saddlebags", are a problem for many women, as they often cannot be combated even with the strictest diets or extreme exercise. Fat deposits are particularly stubborn in (female) problem areas such as the stomach/hips, upper arms, thighs and buttocks, as well as on the chest and lower abdomen in men. The subcutaneous fatty tissue and, in many cases, a genetic predisposition are responsible. In addition to aesthetic aspects, the fat pads can sometimes also lead to a restriction of blood flow to the skin.

A slim, sporty silhouette with liposuction

In contrast to dieting, which only shrinks the fat cells, we permanently remove the fat cells during surgical liposuction. Once fat tissue has been removed by liposuction, it cannot grow back.

I have recently started using the so-called Body Jet WAL (Water-Assisted Liposuction) procedure for liposuction - an advanced method of liposuction that is characterised by its efficiency and minimal invasiveness. This technique has established itself as a popular choice for plastic surgery patients worldwide as it offers a more precise and gentler alternative to traditional liposuction methods.

Liposuction is ideal for localised fat deposits (fat pads); it is unsuitable for "slimming down" general excess weight and is not suitable for people who are very overweight or morbidly obese. The final result is only visible after approx. 3-6 months. If the skin is severely sagging, further skin tightening procedures may be necessary, such as an abdominoplasty or thigh lift.

With my many years of experience in the field of liposuction, I will be happy to advise you, perform the procedure according to the latest scientific findings and ensure a natural and beautiful result.

Gentle liposuction by water jet - Body Jet WAL (Water-Assisted Liposuction)

At the centre of the Body Jet WAL procedure is the use of a thin, water jet-assisted cannula system, which makes it possible to loosen and remove fat cells with a high degree of precision. In contrast to conventional methods that use mechanical movements or ultrasound, the WAL technique utilises a fine, pulsating jet of water. This jet of water is introduced directly into the fatty tissue to gently separate fat cells from surrounding structures such as blood vessels and connective tissue.

One of the main advantages of the Body Jet WAL procedure is the reduction of tissue damage and bruising. As the water jet specifically dissolves fat cells without severely affecting surrounding tissue, the method is much gentler. Patients generally experience a faster recovery time and less post-operative discomfort compared to traditional liposuction methods.

The technique also enables more precise body contouring. The improved control over fat removal allows surgeons to treat specific areas more effectively, achieving a more natural and aesthetically pleasing result. This is particularly important in areas where precise contouring is required, such as the abdomen, thighs or arms.

Another advantage is that the fat obtained can be used for autologous fat transplants if required. As the fat cells are less traumatised by the gentle water jet, their vitality is largely preserved, making them ideal for procedures such as breast augmentation or facial fillers.

Overall, the Body Jet WAL procedure is a safe, effective and patient-friendly option for those considering liposuction. With its numerous benefits, it is an excellent choice for patients who value minimal invasiveness, quick recovery and excellent aesthetic results.

The treatment is carried out at the ATOS Clinic in Munich, where I also have my practice.

Liposuction - an option for me?

Liposuction is almost always performed for aesthetic reasons. It is therefore important that you are clear about why you want the procedure. Discuss with me what expectations you have of liposuction. We will explain the possibilities and limitations in your individual case. Liposuction is not a means of losing excess weight. Your goal is not to radically remove all fat cells, but to create a new, even contour. In general, liposuction is not a question of age. However, firm and elastic skin that adapts well to the new body shape after the procedure is a prerequisite for a successful operation.
